Bodie's Armoury

Postby cj1994 on Wed Jul 14, 2010 3:43 pm

Watched an episode of Involvement and saw Bodie fire in the flats. It appears a 357. Magnum Smith and Wesson 60?

There's information on the weaponry used by both lads here:

Yes, I think it is, I'm no expert on guns (just play a lot of shooting games 8) ) I liked eps like Stopover&Runner where Bodie had the same gun but it was silver :) and also Mixed Doubles where they both have .44 magnums.
B&D changed guns in the third series (Stopover was the first filmed episode I think), Doyle got a Walther P38, German made, very popular during WWII and Bodie got a .357 Magnum, not as big as Hutch's one from Starsky&Hutch though :) Bodie only had the silver version of that gun for 2 eps before it was sprayed black which I read that Lewis Collin's was quite annoyed about. Before series 3, B&D both made Hi-Power Browning pistols which I personally think that they should have kept because they were cool :) In a few early eps though, B&D did have different guns, in ODWNT Bodie's gun in his holster is seen to be a revolver (probably a S&W), when Doyle's gun is seen in the next episode (Long Shot), it is seen to a Walther PPK, in the third ep (Where the Jungle Ends) B&D both got there Brownings and hung onto them for the duration of series 1 & 2. However, Bodie is briefly seen with a magum (.44 or .357?) at the end of Man Without a Past. A bit of gun continuity in Dead Reckoning, Doyle has his browning the first time he uses a gun in the ep but in the final shootout he uses his P38 :) Of course they couldn't have kept the guns they had in Mixed Doubles, it wouldn't have been very practical to carry a gun like a .44 magnum on normal duty so this is why they had small guns like the S&W and P38. Cowley also used a S&W throughout the entire series. :)

Hope this helps :)

It was a .357 Colt Python that he had in Man Without A Past. It made one helluva mess on poor Arthur Pendle.

This is an excellent site that will give you all the info you need.

Bodie's gun, i think is the 4" barrell in the later series. The 357. makes a far bigger blast and you can tell it apart from Cowley's 38., the 357. is proper hardcore shooter.

The Walter P38 isnt quite as "thunderderous" as the 357.
Bodie's Colt Pyton 357. is deemed a good gun too even if it isnt currently produced

I thought the gun Bodie had in Stopover/Runner was the same gun as he uses for the remainder of the series but with silver paint/spray but it turns out that it's a different gun altogether :)

BTW CR, where did you find this gun website, somebody obviously has a lot of time on their hands to create such a page :) And it's very well done IMO

Came across it by chance when I was looking up stuff on Miami Vice :) . There's tons of information on this site and like you said, it's an excellent one.

Me, too. The six-shooter suited him, but it would have been cool if he used this sort of a gun.

Is that a beretta? Like what Starsky used in the pilot ep of S&H? You get to use a gun like that in the Max Payne gamesImage

No, that is actually a Baretta or did you mean Starsky's gun in the pilot? I think it would have been cool if Bodie used a gun like that after the Browning. BTW the pic I posted is of the model Mel Gibson used in Lethal Weapon (1987-98).

The gun he used in the pilot was a different gun to what he used in the series.

Yep, you're right. He used that Colt in the pilot, although I remember him calling it a Beretta :? . Nice gun, though, something I think which would have suited Bodie after using the Browning in the first two series. I actually like Doyle's P38 - must have been a lighter model for him. :)

He called a beretta when he and hutch checked their guns in his car before heading out on patrol.

I think the revolver said a lot about Bodie, specially the silver one...such a bad@ss as you would say :)

Doyle often referred to the P38 having one up the spout which referred to the gun being able to have a round in the chamber read to fire at all times :)

That's right, when it was a Colt :) .

That .357 Magnum was perfect for Bodie - basically a smaller, but nonetheless still powerful version of Hutch's piece.

Like the P38, the Beretta used in the Lethal Weapon films also has one up the spout.

Speaking of Hutch, has anybody noticed how his gun got bigger as the early episodes progressed? In the pilot he had a .38 snubnose, in the first 3 eps he had a 4 inch barrel magnum before switching to the 6 inch barrel for the remainder of the series :)

I liked Doyle's P38 as well, making B&D have different guns brought their characters out more IMO,although Doyle's gun isn't as loud as Bodie's, again, says something about the character, doesn't it?
