Sweeney on Region 1 DVDs

Postby Yor Nicht on Thu Feb 04, 2010 5:45 pm

Howdy, y'all.

I bought the Sweeney season 1 on US DVD last year, and through a bunch of research, see that there's not much chance of any further releases in the near future. The company that put it out has been shut down, and there seems to be no interest in the US market.

It's strange considering how hot the Morse series was in the US, that whoever owns the rights to the Sweeney didn't capitalize on that at the time.

In any case, thanks for keeping interest in the phenomenon alive.

Welcome to Sweeneyland Yor Nicht

Your best bet is to get a Region Free DVD player, and buy the Region 2 box sets from Amazon

Looks like Amazon.com now has Series 2 for the princely sum of $53.99

As Series 2 of Van Der Valk has recently become available in Region 1, there must be a niche market in North America for British-made cop shows.

Welcome to the forum Yor Nicht

Interesting way of spelling your login, from your posts it looks like you're a 'septic' but that spelling looks teutonic :?

Doesn't matter though, either way you're welcome as a Sweeney fan

I suppose that's the best response I should expect from a Brummie!

All 4 series released by Network are Region 0. Only 'Regan' and the two films are Region 2.

Looking on Amazon.com, all 4 series are now available in Region 1 releases though all for the fairly expensive price quoted above for Series 2, so unlikely to attract many impulse buys.
