I was reading in another topic about Sweeney fans love for the "In From The Cold" episode, in particular Anthony Heaton's part as Billy Medhurst.
It was asked his Anthony was still around, as his last TV appearance was Juliet Bravo in 1983.
Someone suggested to contact Equity, the actors union to see if he was still about.
Not sure if anyone did.... so I did just that this morning.
I have received a reply as follows:
Sadly, the Anthony Heaton we have on our records is deceased.
I have forwarded your email to our Royalties Manager, to see if he has any further information."
It is not confirmed that this is "the" Anthony Heaton, but there is only one on the IMDB.
I have replied and thanked them for the reply and that I look forward to any further information.
I also asked if they had details of date/year of death.
Sorry to be the bearer of sad news.
"Kenny Jarvis...I wanna word with you..."
Thats awful news! Anthony must have died young if he is no longer with us. If he is or was still with us I would guess he'd be in his 60's by now.
Alot of actors simply quit the drama business for a number of reasons such as roles drying up or their change in career path, and disappear into the wilderness of time. Sometimes actors can never be traced by TV people (Grange Hill is often a prime example with many once young actors choosing a life away from the camera once they are adults).
I do hope Anthony is alive and well somewhere leading a comfortable and modest life (possibly running a pub in Surrey or something!).
That's very sad news as 'In From the Cold' has possibly the best opening sequence of all the episodes and Medhurst was a cracking villain.
Sadly though it's not a big surprise as the first and second series are now almost 33 years old and with many of the actors middle aged even then there are doubtless more who have gone to join the great Cozzer in the sky.
